DMC is the acronym for Disco Mix Club. The DMC DJ Battles/Championships are the longest running and most prestigious DJ competitions on earth. In the DMC DJ battles, legends are made. The competition has grown considerably since its inception at the 1985 DMC DJ Convention and is now hosted in over 32 countries. Along with turntablism which is now a million dollar industry world wide the interest in DJ battles grew due to their entertainment quality . Technics introduced the main prize of golden turntables in 1989, this unique and priceless trophy is given to the newly crowned world champion. The competition runs annually, the culmination being the world finals in the UK
