About: ABOUT THE CLUB


The purpose of the Club is to provide a facility that supports Personal Assistants (PAs) and Secretaries. The drive behind the club is to empower PAs and Secretaries with the use of advanced software applications required by the modern corporate world.

The PAs and Secretaries Computer Club provide the opportunity to share with peers from government and the corporate world the shortcuts and solutions to difficulties experienced in using a personal computer.

The Club is sponsored by iCyber: Tshwane (www.iCyber.co.za.)



GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

* Arrange meetings of interest to the club members, and
* Share knowledge freely.
* Offer extensive knowledge of software application such as word processing, presentation software such as PowerPoint, spreadsheet, project management, desktop publishing, MS Outlook etc.
* Enable Personal Assistances and Secretaries put technology to work.
* Promote awareness and appreciation of computing between the club members and the public.
* Establish a good professionals practices that a will benefit the members of the club,



PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

The focus of the Club is on mastering computer word processing, presentations and spreadsheets as these are essential skills for PAs and Secretary to have in a highly competitive workplace.

Employers expect that PAs and Secretaries should be proficient in computer typing. This might include :

* Typing effectively with word processing, presentation software, spreadsheet, MS Outlook etc
* Maintaining websites
* Managing budgets
* Screening incoming calls
* Checking and sending e-mails
* Reviewing documentation
* Doing research on the Internet
* Scheduling reservations
* Booking meetings



MEMBERSHIP

Full membership of the club is open to all PAs and Secretaries.

The cost of membership is R250 per year. Thanks to iCyber Tshwane's sponsorship, membership is currently free of charge. Membership is renewable on a annual basis.



MEETINGS

The club uses small group meetings to ensure personal interaction. It is running on a daily basis and is facilitated by knowledgeable a person that has good computer experience.

Each member shall receive invites to talks and Club meetings via e-mail notification two days before the event. The e-mail will include the date, time and the motion of the day.

A website with club activities is also available with latest information about meetings and its subject or motions.
