| Band Description |
Trip To Antares is an unsigned indie band originally from Pretoria, but now residing in Johannesburg. The two-man band consists of songwriter Dirk Mostert on vocals and acoustic guitar, and Johan Beukes on electric/lead guitar.
The duo met in res while attending the University of Pretoria, where Mostert studied econometrics and Beukes industrial engineering. Mostert asked Beukes to assist him on a demo recording in January 2008. The recording soon became known as “The tactics E.P” and was the culmination of the existence of Trip To Antares. An animated music video of the first version of “Heaven help me now” was created by their friends which made the rounds on Youtube. They then played various shows in venues like Café Arch, Maloney’s and Café Barcelona in Pretoria throughout 2008.
The name is open to interpretation, but might resemble the incomprehendable size, power and complexity of life and our surroundings, all in some way, soundtracked by music. They are currently finishing their first full length album including a full band, entitled “The flood and the fire”, which will be available in a limited edition format only until a distribution deal can be negotiated.
