Mesh Mdlasakhe Ntuli was born and raised in Daveyton (Ekurhuleni) and he had a passion for music from and early age being a keen listener of soul and hip hop, always frequenting various hip hop events and searching for an individual sound to listen to.
Mesh Potato pursued his studies at Tshwane University of technology (TUT) in Pretoria, although he had love for the Hip hop and soul sound, it is in Pretoria that he found his true passion for deep house. He attended various clubs events and his passion grew. Listening to guys like Vinny, Christos, Sisco, Black Coffee he was inspired to pursue a career in music particularly DJing, which he taught himself by starting to persistently collect vinyls, throwing himself in the deep end by forcing himself to play at parties around his townships in Pretoria while teaching himself how to play. Pursuing the thirst for success as a DJ Mesh talked himself into working for a record store known as Camino records, building relationships with various prominent DJs and lining himself up for various gigs. When Camino Records closed Mesh decided to stay in the house music industry while working odd jobs.
He finally settled in Multi-Racial Records responsible where he started working as a DJ course teacher/lecturer and ordering deep House orders. By this time his passion and skills for deep house have developed. |
