| Band Description |
Maisha is the most exciting Durban based Afro Fusion band on the music scene at the moment. Some highlights are that the band opened for Eddy Grant at the Suncoast Casino on the 22nd Feb 2009. We have also played with the likes of Freshly Ground, John Ellis (Tree63), Prime Circle, Just Jinger, Gang of Instrumentals, Ladysmith Black Mambasa, Mohetella Queens, Stealing Love Jones, and loads of KZN based bands and musicians as well as local festivals such as Splashy Fen, Zini Festival, Mandela’s Birthday Celebrations, Ulundi Kings Festival, Celebrate Durban, Glenwood Festival, White Mountain, 2010 FIFA Fan Parks, Mr. Price Pro with the most recent performance being the Sunday Times ECR Durban Day in Durban in September 2010. Although unsigned we have completed our first album, called “Stop the War” and have completed our first music video, titled “Afrika Unite”. We have also been featured and interviewed on SABC’s program ARTCHA. The band has been interviewed twice on East Coast Radio (ECR) and our song “Maria” we have been play listed on ECR for some time now. We have also had all of our musical equipment (including backline) sponsored by Yamaha.
The band appeals to a very wide mix of audiences as the music is multi genre and very much of an Afro Fusion type vibe, and sing our own unique brand of songs and select covers in English, Zulu, French and Swahili.
