| Band Description |
Juliet and I is a five piece Rock/Alternative/Indie band from Potchefstroom, who started playing together in March, 2009. Their music style consists of a diverse spectrum of influences ranging from Sinister Gates’ inspiring musicality, Alex Turner’s romantic and witty poetry and catchy riffs, clowns, girls, boys and frivolous, yet shameless, humour.
They strive to be what they are, accept what they create and transcend that, which is received by others. Juliet and I rooted from similar musical ethics, and the desire to apply the strife of passionately having fun on stage, at practice, on the dance floor or the far end of the bar.
Andrew, Markus and JJ met each other during high school in Potchefstroom. Bernard also came from Potchefstroom, but came from a different school. Andrew and Markus played together in a band during their last two years of school. They met Bernard, who was playing in another band, during their matric year.
At the beginning of their second year of university, Andrew and Markus decided to start a new project, being Juliet and I. They approached JJ and Bernard to join them. They still lacked a vocalist, so Bernard and JJ approached Gerhard, who they knew beforehand. Although he was the last person to get involved, he is now the vital component concerning his melodic and wide ranged voice, as well as his extreme theoretical and practical knowledge on a guitar.
All of the members are currently students at the North-West University in Potchefstroom, although only one of the members actually live in Potchefstroom.
