Boi Sirius was born Sean Julien in Lubumbashi in May 1984. Born in the Katanga, mining province of the DRC, his father, who is a well known mining and geology expert, moved the family to Kinshasa for four years. Eventually, he completed his high-school and landed in Cape Town, South Africa, the city Boi Sirius calls home – “Mothercity baby! My city is candy.” That is where he’s found his passion and love for music and decided to be part of the industry at various levels.
When Boi Sirius debuted in summer 2010 with the mixtape single release of “Blow You Mind”, he sounded like poetry, but also apparent that he was a well groomed and exceptional artist, geared to conquer the market worldwide. Boi Sirius’s style, a mix of African wailers to the Midwestern and Dirty South lust, has made his music embracing and catchy. As exceptional as recommended by David Robinson, Creative Director of Paramount Music in Nashville, quoting - “Doing some very good writing… Highly professional! However, we believe that you’ll be well of working in LA or NY…”
Currently working on his debut mixtapes, Halfway to Sirius – Risen Part 1” and original singles “Hands Up & So Fly,” dropping in December 2011 on Island Defjam Digital, and “Feels like money,” a featuring project with Virginia born Atlanta artist, Speechless, Boi Sirius is definitely building a great background for his career thus crossing boundaries with a mix style.
Boi Sirius has been working closely with The DEPUTY aka Dale Johnson from Dirty Funk Band, one of Cape Town’s most owned band in the industry, on his single entitle “Up in Them Clubs” featuring RAY Ceeh in 2008, and “At night” featuring Dirty Funk Band, and featured on “Do it Better” digitally recorded at Dirty World Records. Now, teaming up with Beat Vampires DJ LEO LARGE and FRITZZ THE CAT to keep the industry fostered with upcoming hits going forward to the end of 2012, he’s created “SUPREME LEAGUE” and will be launching his record label soon.
With “Blow Your Mind” radio campaign launching in September 2011 and debut mixtape coming out in November, Boi Sirius has signed with Slip N’ Slide Records, home of major artists such as Rick Ross, Plies, Trina, Jagged Edge, Swazzy Boy and Mike Bless, for an On Da Grind artist development project, putting him on his way to becoming one ambassador for Africa to tap into the international alternative Hip Hop market, securing himself a spot as a popular artist known for his signature calling – “Boi Sirius! French Kiss! Ja Siri! Sirius! Godson! TBJ! Joji!”
